About Us

Where This Story Began

Lightbringers Press grew out of a very real, very imperfect homeschool life. The kind filled with cross-country moves, military deployments, caring for aging parents, and learning how to teach multiple ages at the same table through all of it. I’m a homeschooling mom of multi-age learners, and along the way I kept meeting parents who were exhausted, afraid of getting it wrong, and searching for something that felt gentler, more immersive and more doable.

What started as conversations on the couch turned into A Gentle Start to Homeschooling, a way to say, “You’re not alone,” and to help families build a vision and rhythm that actually fits their life. Over the years, I’ve spent time teaching in private schools, church classrooms, and homeschool co-ops, and began writing curriculum for ages 6 through 18 to bring that same clarity and connection into everyday learning. The Hearthlight curriculum is simply the next step in that same heartbeat.

It’s everything we’ve learned through the hard and the holy years, shaped into a story-rich, multi-age program that brings learning to life while still giving teens real high school credit and space to grow in faith.

Lightbringers Press Team

Lightbringers Press grew out of a very real and imperfect homeschool life. It began with one mom learning how to teach multi age kids while navigating cross country moves, military deployments, caring for aging parents, mental and physical health challenges, and the everyday realities of a neurodivergent family.

Along the way, we tried public school, private school, and co-ops before eventually finding our place at the kitchen table. In that process, I kept meeting parents who felt exhausted, afraid of getting it wrong, and in need of something gentler and more doable than a picture perfect system.

A Gentle Start to Homeschooling was written as a simple, honest conversation for those families. It was meant to walk through vision, rhythms, and faith in a way that actually fits inside a lived in home and a real schedule.

Lightbringers Press and the Hearthlight curriculum are a continuation of that same journey.

They take what was learned through hard and meaningful seasons and turn it into a story rich, fantasy inspired, multi age program that makes learning engaging and meaningful, while still helping students earn real high school credit and grow in their faith.

Our Vision

We envision a generation of youth who are rooted in Christ, deeply connected to their families, and growing into confident and curious learners shaped by rich stories, real life skills, and a homeschool life that feels peaceful and purposeful.

So in simple terms, we believe in homeschools where faith, family, and imagination grow together. Learning shapes more than just transcripts.

The People Behind the Story

TRANSPARENT FILE

Cambrin Bassett

Chief Executive Officer

Cambrin Bassett is the CEO of Lightbringers Press and the steady hand behind Hearthlight’s big-picture strategy. A Sergeant First Class in the Army National Guard with a background in human resources and public affairs, he has deployed to Iraq/Kuwait, supported domestic COVID-19 response, and served in Africa, experiences that deepened his love of history, culture, courage, and clear communication. He holds a master’s degree in strategic communication and is currently working on a PhD in strategic leadership, bringing that expertise to bear as he guides Lightbringers Press into its next chapter. When he’s off duty, you’ll usually find him enjoying great movies, fantasy novels, and a constant soundtrack in his earbuds, or digging into his passion for personal and family defense. His family insists that behind his introverted shell is one of the funniest people you’ll ever meet, and they’re delighted more people will finally get to see it as he steps into this new role full-time.

Tina Bassett

Creative Director

Tina Bassett is the Creative Director of Hearthlight, where she turns big ideas, fantasy worlds, and homeschool realities into story-rich adventures families can actually use. A professional accompanist and music teacher, she has homeschooled her kids in a lively one-room schoolhouse since 2017 and has spent the past several years writing curriculum for her local homeschool co-op. She is currently working on a master’s degree in ethnomusicology and theology through Liberty University, which happily feeds her love of stories, songs, and the many ways different cultures make meaning out of the world. When she isn’t sketching out new quests or untangling timelines, you can find her ballroom dancing, reading fantasy novels, watching movies, crocheting, geeking out over nerdy fandoms, or hunting down the world’s best potato chip. She lives in Utah with her husband, three teens, and two very lazy lap dogs.

Lydia Bassett

Social Media Advisor

Lydia Bassett is the Social Media Advisor for Lightbringers Press and the resident bringer-of-sunshine to the Hearthlight team. A recent high school graduate at sixteen, she’s jumping straight into online college while living at home, with her eyes set on a dance degree and, one day, her own social dance studio. She loves great music, a solid beauty routine, and time with friends, and she brings that same sense of fun and connection to the way she helps shape Hearthlight’s online community. She plans to serve a mission when she turns eighteen, and her family will tell you she is a light wherever she goes, pairing a bubbly, loving presence with a beautiful singing voice and a gift for making people feel seen.

Tony Bassett

Worldbuilding Designer

Tony Bassett is Worldbuilding Designer, the one who turns scattered ideas into maps you actually want to explore. He has loved maps since he was little and still lights up at the thought of a well-drawn coastline or a cleverly named town. If he had his way, he’d probably live in a different century, striding around in a cape, sword at his hip, and a tricorn hat, ready to chart the next unknown corner of the world. He’s a devoted fan of audiobooks, especially LitRPG and progression fantasy series where characters level up like in a video game (Dungeon Crawler Carl anyone?) and he contributes more than his fair share of hilarity to the family quote list. Underneath the humor, Tony is an old soul with a kind heart who is always willing to help his mom and gives the best hugs you’ll ever receive.

Alaina Bassett

Concept Artist

Alaina Bassett is Hearthlight’s Concept Artist and resident sketch gremlin in the very best sense. She has a gift for bringing characters to life on the page and a delightfully morbid sense of humor that keeps the whole team laughing. If left to her own devices, she would happily live on ramen and chicken tenders, rotate through an endless stream of anime, and spend hours swinging at the park. She’s a bit of a hard nut to crack at first, but once you’re subscribed to the “premium personality package,” you’ll never want to cancel, especially when she shows up in a perfectly tailored girl suit and that absolutely contagious laugh.
